GJT Celebrates Inaugural Flight to SLC on Delta Air Lines
Non-stop flights connecting Grand Junction and Salt Lake City have resumed on Delta Airlines as of Tuesday, December 3, marking the return of the route nearly two years after its suspension in January 2022.
The inaugural flight from Grand Junction Regional Airport (GJT) to Salt Lake City Airport (SLC) revitalizes business travel and provides one-stop connectivity to over 97 destinations worldwide. Guests were welcomed with remarks from Congressman Jeff Hurd, Delta Skywest Senior Corporate Communication Manager, Wes Horrocks, CDOT Executive Director Shoshana Lew, Grand Junction Regional Airport Authority Board Chairman Tom Benton, and Executive Director of the Grand Junction Regional Airport Angela Padalecki.
Delta Air Lines will become the third network carrier to serve GJT and SLC will be the fourth connecting hub with nonstop service from GJT. Delta flights are scheduled to operate twice daily most days throughout the year onboard a 50-seat Bombardier CRJ550 with 10 First Class seats, 20 Delta Comfort + seats, and 20 Main Cabin seats. The first daily flight is scheduled to depart in the early morning, and the second flight will depart mid-day. This will enable travelers to have access to the largest number of connections at Delta’s hub at SLC.
The reinstatement was made possible through a revenue guarantee grant secured by the airport and additional support from the Grand Junction Regional Air Service Alliance. The flights will be operated by SkyWest Airlines, a regional carrier partnering with Delta Airlines.
